Malaysia Breaks Ground on the Olympic House

Olympic House groundbreaking

A visionary hub for sports, sustainability and national unity rises at the entrance of Bukit Jalil Sports City.

Malaysia marked a historic milestone with the groundbreaking of the Olympic House, the future headquarters of the Olympic Council of Malaysia. Located at the entrance of Bukit Jalil Sports City, the project reaffirms Malaysia's leadership in sports development, sustainability and national unity.

The ceremony was officiated by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Youth and Sports Minister YB Hannah Yeoh, and OCM President Tan Sri Dato' Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria. “This Olympic House is not made out of cement and bricks. It is a home of dreams, for any young Malaysian who dares and believes that standing on the podium of Olympic success is within reach,” said the Prime Minister.

Designed and developed by Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), the Olympic House will span 5.38 acres with a gross floor area of 140,973 square feet, bringing together 58 national sports associations under one roof. The purpose-built facility will feature an auditorium, resource centre, gymnasium, museum, gallery, café, surau and more.

Tan Sri Norza Zakaria shared the vision behind the initiative: “This is not merely the construction of a building. It is the establishment of a home that will preserve our history, serve our athletes, and inspire generations. It will be Malaysia's first green-energy sports headquarters, designed with people and planet in mind.”

The Olympic House will replace the current Wisma OCM, built in 1991 near Stadium Merdeka — placing the Olympic Council within immediate reach of Malaysia's flagship venues, including the National Stadium and Axiata Arena.
